Location

Crowtrees Farm is located near the Staffordshire Moorlands village of Oakamoor, ideally placed if you are visiting Alton Towers which is just two and a half miles away (10 minutes by car).

We are convenient for visiting Staffordshire or the Derbyshire Peak District but there is plenty of relaxation to be had by just walking the countryside and lanes around the farm.

How to get here

DIRECTIONS TO CROWTREES FARM FROM NORTH USING M6

  • Leave M6 at Jnt 15 onto A500 towards Stoke on Trent.

  • After about 2 miles take A50 (towards Derby /Uttoxeter) off roundabout by
    Britannia Stadium.

  • Continue on this dual carriageway 3 4 miles to Meir where the A50 goes into
    a tunnel take the second exit after the tunnel when you reach the round-about
    turn left.

  • Half mile to T junction turn right and continue over level crossing.

  • Half mile turn left onto A521 (by Duke of Wellington Pub) to Cheadle (4 miles).

  • Follow signs through Cheadle town onto the B5417 to Oakamoor 3 4 miles.

  • Come down the hill into the village past the church on your left and over the
    bridge in Oakamoor and turn left by the Cricketers Arms.

  • After 200 yards continue up the very steep hill keeping to the right of the
    Lord Nelson. This road climbs for approx 1 mile the drops down round a few
    bends and eventually levels out.

  • Look for a sign Moneystone continue PAST this, we are on the left approx.
    100 yards with B&B signs.
     


DIRECTIONS TO CROWTREES FARM FROM NORTH USING M1

  • Leave M1 Jtn 28 ...  A38 towards Derby.

  • A38 onto A52 towards Ashbourne.

  • Following Ashbourne by pass, still on A52 towards Leek.

  • After approx 5 miles A52 bears left towards Stoke on Trent.

  • Continue on A52 for approx another 4 5 miles to village of Whiston.

  • At the bottom of hill in Whiston turn left opposite Sneyd Arms pub into Eaves
    Lane.

  • 1 mile look for sign WBB Minerals Moneystone Quarry, continue past this into
    restricted access lane we are approx 400 yards on right with B&B signs.



DIRECTIONS TO CROWTREES FROM SOUTH USING M1

  • Leave M1 at Jtn 23A A6 for short distance before joining A50 towards Stoke on
    Trent. From leaving M1 to the Uttoxeter turn is approx 27 miles on A50 dual
    carriageway.

  • At Uttoxeter turn right (by Travel Lodge & MacDonalds) on to the B5030 following
    brown & white Alton Towers signs.

  • **
    Approx 3 miles turn left just past J C Bamford Excavators Ltd factory still
    following Alton Towers signs through villages of Denstone and Alton. (When
    approaching Alton village look out for sign directing you to bear right for
    Alton Towers).

  • Continue through village of Alton and on past Alton towers on the right.

  • After approx 1 mile turn left at next crossroads (opp Old Star pub).

  • Approx 1 mile down the village of Oakamoor turn right by Cricketers Arms pub.

  • Keep to the right of the Lord Nelson pub up the very steep hill.

  • Continue on this road as it climbs for approx 1 mile, after a couple of bends
    the road starts to level out.

  • Continue past a sign Moneystone ... we are another 100 yards on the left with Bed
    & Breakfast signs.


DIRECTIONS TO CROWTREES FROM SOUTH WEST USING M5 / M6

  • Leave M6 at Jtn 14 heading towards Stone but at first roundabout you will see
    A518 towards Uttoxeter signed.

  • At Uttoxeter following Alton Towers signs through the town you will pick up the
    B5030.

  • Approx 3 miles turn left just past J C Bamford Excavators Ltd factory still
    following Alton Towers signs through villages of Denstone and Alton. (When
    approaching Alton village look out for sign directing you to bear right for
    Alton Towers).

  • Continue through village of Alton and on past Alton towers on the right.
